Key Achievements:

As a graduate at Future Super Group, Blake had the valuable opportunity to gain insights into the Superannuation industry while working alongside the Risk and Compliance Team. During his time there, he actively participated in the development of a Compliance Management System (CMS), which allowed him to deepen his understanding of the complex regulatory landscape and compliance practices required within the industry. Blake played a key role in developing templates for RAID (Risk, Issue, Assumptions, and Dependencies) logs, and Stakeholder registers. Additionally, Blake assisted the General Manager of Risk and Compliance in developing a risk management process, impact assessment and a business case.

As a graduate at Seven Consulting, Blake successfully completed the specialized Graduate program, aimed at enhancing core Project Management skills. Throughout the program, he actively participated in engaging sessions and practical exercises led by industry experts, gaining a solid foundation in both theoretical and hands-on aspects of project Management. The program significantly boosted his proficiency and confidence in utilising essential PM tools such as MS Project and JIRA, as well has honed his techniques and soft skills crucial for effective project management. Blake also had the opportunity to work shadow senior consultants in actual project environments, getting a firsthand exposure to managing risks, addressing issues, and navigating project constraints.

As Team Leader at Victoria University, Blake was responsible for producing a project procurement plan for a proposed hybrid solar and wind energy farm in Queensland. As the team leader, he guided a group of five project management students according to the PMBOK project management approach. Blake facilitated twice-weekly meetings with his team to monitor their progress and address any issues that emerged. In addition, he prioritised the tasks that needed to be completed and distributed the work among the members of the team based on their skills. A stakeholder analysis, a procurement packaging strategy, an evaluation of suppliers, a sourcing strategy, a contract strategy, and a delivery approach all contributed to the team’s effective delivery of a procurement plan.
